We're on Day 6 of our vacation out to the Black Hills. It's been a great time! Lots of fun at Grandma & Grandpa's. Jake got to drive the "tractor" which was entertaining for him and nerve racking for me.
One of the best parts about road trip vacations is it allows you time to think and talk with the family. We've had lots of fun chatting about things we've done and things we've seen. I feel like more often than not, we get busy with work, and chores, and miss time to just talk about what's going on. I'm amazed at how much the kids are growing and learning.
So, with a few days left in "the Hills", and a long road trip back home, here are just a few things we've done and a few pictures to illustrate.
*Suprise visit to the cabin to see, V&T and the boys.
*Drive over the Missouri River at Pierre.
*Pit stop in Midland.
*Stop at Wall Drug
*Rubberband gun shoot-out at Holy Cow Ranch
*"Creepy" Bear Country
*Old McDonals's (Dud) Farm
*WahTiki Water Resort
*Birthday Party for Grandma
*Old Time Pictures at Keystone
Saturday evening, we left the kids with a babysitter, and headed out for an evening with A&M.
Misty was determind to sing Karaoke. Atom & Adam wanted to bowl (they played Wii bowling on Friday, and thought their games would be much improved in real life). I wasn't sure how we were going to do both, but found that the local bowling alley had "Extreme Bowling" AND Karaoke starting at 8. Woot.
I didn't sing, and my bowling game was pathetic, but none the less, it was fun.
A&M showed up last night. They are staying with us for the weekend.
They got to the house late last night, and I was thrilled to see them! It's been a long time since I've spent any time with family. Having them here makes me feel like I've gone home.
Now, I'm using all the will power I have to get work done so I can ditch out early to spend the afternoon with them.
I'm just giddy!
J: "If you was me, and I was you, it'd totally rock"
P: "Why is that?"
J: "Because then you'd be there, and you could ride the bumper cars. That'd be AWESOME!"
True. I wanna be there, not here.
Missy Mae and I are spending the afternoon together, while the boys go out to see Stomp. It's J's first time to the theatre. Had tickets been a little less, I would have gone with, but I'm glad things worked out the way they did.
Missy and I have spent the afternoon watching musicals (Dreamgirls & Hairspray). I can't tell you how awesome it feels to watch little Miss Diva dance along to Hairspray. Immediately after seeing Penny Pingleton, Maddy insisted on putting her hair in pony tails! Adorable.
Her auntie T and I are gonna have SO much fun with this!
Happy Father's Day to my Dad and Atom!
They both are great Dads in their own right.
Have a wonderful day!
Some of you may feel like returning gifts is a typical thing for someone who is "dead inside" to do, but honestly, I'm not a gift returner. I don't think I've ever returned a gift. You may think, "Maybe you've just been lucky and always liked what you've received", but if you have ever heard the list of gifts I've received, you'd know luck wasn't on my side.
Having said that, the Bomb and kids gave me a stunning saphire and diamond ring. Really very beautiful, and I love things that are sparkly. But, this time, I had to return it, because the ring was much like another one I have, and I REALLY needed new clothes. So today, the Bomb and I met up at the jewelry store over lunch and returned my pretty little ring. Doing this will replenish our account and cover for the purchases I made on Sunday. It seemed like a responsible thing to do.
All day I've been trotting around in what I believe to be a pretty snappy little ensemble. But, considering the responses (or rather lack there of), I'm feeling a bit like I should have kept the ring. Even if I was nekkid with only my saphire ring, at least someone would have commented.
I often times get notes on my whiteboard. Mostly they are reminders while I'm away from my desk.
This morning I received this one:
"Happy Anniversary of the day of your Mom's pain."
Thanks mom for suffering that day of pain and suffering everyday there after.
I play bowling very bad too, but i can sing, I remember first time when I was to Karaoke sang... read more
